VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Due to the nature of our work, we can only enter the homes of people who are fully vaccinated and at a minimum, we must sight the Vaccine Pass of anyone over 12 years of age who is present at the appointment time.

We want to protect ourselves and our customers so we are choosing to use the recommend best practices at all times. This means we will ask to scan the Vaccine Passes of anyone present at the appointment time.

We will do this at your door so please have your Pass ready.

We are able to work for those who are Vaccine Exempt (with proof issued by the Ministry of Health) but we ask that you please let us know at the time of booking.

We hope that our customers understand that we are trying to do our best to navigate this new framework and to protect ourselves and everyone that we meet.

WILL THERE BE ANY MESS?

No, we strive to be as clean and tidy as possible. We use a drop sheet, a vacuum cleaner and also cover the fire while carrying out a sweep. If we have any concerns that the type of fire, or fuel burnt, could possibly cause any mess then we will discuss this with you.

DOES THE FIRE NEED TO BE COLD?

We need the fire cold, so if you're not certain it will be cold the next day, then it's best not to use it the night before. If you really need to use the fire, and only wood then let it burn out earlier than usual with the damper/air control in the fully open position.  We do charge a fee if the fire is not cold as we cannot work on a warm/hot fire.

DO YOU NEED TO GET ON THE ROOF?

In most cases no, we don't need to get on the roof as most fires can be thoroughly swept from the inside up. If you have any specific concerns, or reason for wanting us to get on the roof, then please discuss this with us at the time of booking. Due to Work Safe requirements, we are only able to get on a roof when it is safe to do so.

DO YOU OFFER A REMINDER SERVICE?

Yes, we provide a reminder the night before the appointment and an annual reminder to keep you up to date with any insurance requirements. We may charge for same day cancellations, or if the fire isn't cold, so please contact us if you have any concerns about your ability to keep an an appointment.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY CHIMNEY SWEPT?

Fire and Emergency New Zealand recommend having the chimney swept before you light the first fire of the season.
